#AMAZED

I'm not sure where to begin!  I never thought God could use me much for anything.  Over the past few couple of years, He has #AMAZED me!

I love to journal my prayers.  This past January my church joined with Moms In Prayer International to launch a MiPi Group to be praying for the high school in our church's neighborhood.  We met each Sunday night at 5 PM until May.  As the school year ended, I was front row seat to a conversation between a police officer and a teacher from that particular high school.  The police did NOT have to respond to a single felony at that high school during the 2012-13 school year!!

I started using the Four Steps of Prayer in my daily life.  One of my friends and I shared scripture prayer text messages.  One thing led to another and I was sending out prayer text using the Four Steps of Prayer to 12 ladies, with the two youngest being the age 16!!  We titled ourselves "The Prayer Squad".  We say we are in prayer boot camp. LOL

The new school year has started.  Moms In Prayer meets each Sunday evening at 5 PM.  NO ONE has showed up but me!  I was discouraged until my dear sister in Christ and Associate Pastor shared something with me about offering of faithfulness.  She said (paraphrase) you've dedicated this time for this purpose, if no one else shows up see it as God teaching you about something, see it as an offering to Him.  There was a lot more wisdom to what she said but that was the basics.  So, I encouraged The Prayer Squad to pray for the schools!  Gave them a list of schools with kids from our church/and group attend, including the neighborhood school (which our 2 teens attend! not everyone on the Squad attend my church nor live in the same state!).

Oh, ok. I'll tell you!!

The same teacher from paragraph 2 and I were talking this past Tuesday night.  I asked her how the school year is going.  She shared how smooth it is and how there is a peace.  She shared that several teachers have come to her all baffled about the students being so calm.  She said it is really different! Unusual!  That's when I shared with her there is a group of us praying specifically for that high school.  Her face lit up!!  She said "That's it!!"  She went on to say she's going to tell the other teachers there is a group praying for their school.

So, yeah.  I'm the only one who shows up for the Moms In Prayer meeting ... I have a feeling that will change soon.  However, there is a Squad of women praying!  I never thought  God would take my love for journaling prayers to Him and turn it into leading women in prayer through Email and text messages.   God is MOVING too!  Not just in this area about this high school, but He's moving and answering prayers left and right!  I'm so #AMAZED!  I shouldn't be!  I shouldn't expect anything less!!  What amazes me is He wanted me to be one of His tools!  I will continue to offer Him the sacrifice of faithfulness.  Will you join me in offering Him this special offering?

  1. I am #amazed reading this post. I have felt led to begin a prayer ministry with moms for our adult children. I have been in a quandary on how to start - I was just praying this morning about it. I started reading your blog and it was an answer to prayer. I have one mom right now really interested.... I love the email and text idea- would you be willing to share with me more specifically?

  4. This is so awesome and such a great idea. My grandson who is in grade 10 this years gets bullied a lot because of learning problems. I pray for him but will pray for the whole school now and the other schools my grandchildren attend. God bless you as you continue to be the only one meeting for the Moms in Prayer meeting and like you I believe it will change because of your faithfulness to continue even on your own. #Amazing.

  5. Prayer changes things! Not only does communicating with God change what we are talking to Him about, that communication changes us!!

Pray over the teachers, staff, bus drivers, for the kids who are bullies -- hurt people, hurt other people; pray over the hallways for God's Spirit to flow up and down the halls, for His Spirit to flood the cafeterias, be in the restrooms; pray for the child who is hurting that someone will be in the school he/she can turn to and for God to personally comfort that child; pray over the curriculum; pray for the Christian teachers and students to be God's light bearers ... It's not a magic bullet ... ITS POWER! God's power and God's authority.

  7. Vivian, how cool to see God using you. When we Let God be First then things can happen. A lesson I am trying to learn. I live in Putnam County, TN and our state Rep. Williams had a resoulution passed back in March for the first Sunday of August, which this year was August 4th, as Tennessee Day of Prayer School Walk. My family along with 600+ others and churches in the community meet together for a time of details and prayer. After the meeting we broke up and went in all directions to every school campus-Elementrary, Middle, Highschool, college, Homeschool co ops any place kida have school, in the county and walk around the schools and prayed. Some schools were opened to us and you could go inside and pray or pray at any of the enterances, anywhere you felt you should stop and pray. We were handed cards to leave at the schools with, We prayed for you along with a place you could write a prayer. We did it as a family and each said a prayer at the two schools our children go. This is suppose to be a yearly thing. If you want to know more go look up Cover Our Schools. It was a great family thing to do together to showvour kids God.

  9. This is a really neat story! I have been part of a prayer group before that stood in front of an elementary school and prayed for a few hours. In those little things of faithfulness, God does #amazing things. I've not heard anything with the school since I no longer am part of that church group, but I hope and pray that those three hours accomplished something that I may never get to see because God is a big God and can do whatever He pleases. He will reward your faithfulness to Him. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today! :)
